Hi, I am

Sondra!

As a seasoned Licensed Professional Counselor, I have a heart for helping people overcome the obstacles, traumas, and patterns that continue to hold them back from living life to the fullest.

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), integrative therapy and evidence based practices as I focus on adult, young-adult and adolescent populations. I seek to promote the often overlooked strengths that can assist clients with greater self-awareness as they begin the journey of healing, growth and understanding. I am intentional about creating a safe and supportive environment for my clients, where a collaborative and goal-oriented relationship can develop. My style is warm, engaging and interactive.

My professional training and experience has been in the field of depression, stress & anxiety, self-esteem issues, family of origin issues, identity issues, shame, codependency, boundary and other relational issues, life changes & transitions, grief and loss, trauma/abuse, communication issues, church hurt/spiritual abuse, as well as spiritual formation.

My path to private practice has included work at a college counseling center, a domestic violence shelter and outpatient clinic, an adolescent residential treatment center, a rural mental health center and a managed healthcare organization.

In terms of my counseling philosophy, it can best be summed up by this ancient saying, "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."

How I Can Help...

I will help you gain the skills and internal resources necessary to handle anything that life throws your way. To do so requires a healthy perspective that allows us to evaluate a thought, a behavior, a choice or belief and determine if it will lead in a healthy direction. In therapy, you can expect to learn and develop healthy responses to unhealthy behaviors. Sometimes those unhealthy behaviors will be your own, and sometimes they will come from the people around you. The ability to respond in healthy ways will ultimately enrich and enhance your life.

When I am Not at Work....

My leisure time is spent outdoors, traveling, reading, volunteering, enjoying family, and centering my life around a faithful relationship with God.
